The Joy of Gardening: Cultivating your Green Thumb
Gardening is an awesome way of relaxing and destressing. When I was at the most stressed part of my life I found that my garden became my refuge. It was so rewarding watching my efforts and energy turn into real tangible things that could nourish my mind and body. Gardening can be a wonderful way to find peace and calm in the midst of stress. During a particularly challenging time in my life, I discovered that my garden could offer me refuge and solace. Seeing my efforts and energy transform into something beautiful and nourishing was truly rewarding for both my mind and body.
Gardening has been an integral part of my life since I was a little girl who used to help her mother. Among all the things that I planted, flowers were always my favorite. I adored their beauty and colors, and I enjoyed arranging, drying, and pressing them. For me, flowers symbolized everything that summer was about - warm weather, colors, thunderstorms, and rainbows. If you grew up in Alberta, you would know how dark the skies become after thunderstorms, how beautiful the rainbows are, and how refreshing the scent of rainfall and soil can be.
Whenever I catch a whiff of fresh earth while gardening, I am reminded of these beautiful memories. This blog is a tribute to the joy that gardening has brought me throughout my life and to inspire others to perhaps find joy and inspiration around gardening. Whether it was using laundry baskets and garbage bags to create a garden in my apartment, growing a full backyard garden, or building my market garden, I have always found a way to create my own gardening space, wherever I am.
